Alright Cliff....
Got pretty far today. Had to beat the poop out of the
oil pan and open up almost every single hole on the flange to get it to fit. I like Aviaid pans, but I've never had one go on without a fight.
Timing cover and balancer are on. Checked the timing marks against true TDC and found out that your adjustable pointer won't adjust to where we need it. I ordered a new one, and will throw this one in your pile.
Measured for pushrods and called Trend to get those ordered. They are a completely custom length, so it will probably be the end of next week before I get them. I wait to put the intake on until I get the pushrods installed and make sure that everything oils the way it's supposed to
oil. If I have to make an adjustment on something, it's a lot easier to see what's going on with the intake off. Easier to check lifter preload that way too.
All-in-all, not much more to go. New timing pointer will go on, I'll check the balancer again, then the water pump will go on. Pushrods will come in, I'll throw the rockers on, pop the intake on, and that will pretty much be it.
