If your pipes are a polished silver ceramic I've had some success with heating the pipes/foreign material up with a heat gun and using 4O (OOOO) steel wool to gently scrub off the foreign material. Let the pipes cool completely and then use some more 4O and Mother's metal polish to clean up the rest. The 4O is softer than the ceramic coating and will clean/polish but not scratch.
Like most warnings on cleaning products try in a small unobtrusive spot first to make sure it functions as advertised.
