Come Back For A Visit
A quiet morning in Poolville, Saturday, July 13, 2013. Not much going on. The time was about 10:15. The seed company was closed. The post office had already dispatched the rural carriers, and the Methodist church had just begun its annual Vacation Bible School.
Suddenly, the quiet morning was broken with the deep-throated mechanical rumble of exhausts, as if one hundred Harleys were about to cross over the bridge just north of town. But there were no motorcycles, only eight highly polished and lovingly cared for classic Shelby Cobras running open headers. The members of the DFW Cobra Club, a chapter of the Texas Cobra Club, had gotten together for a morning drive, pulling into the Poolville Post Office parking lot for a brief rest. How ironic, since Carol Shelby’s father was a rural postal carrier.
***** The above two paragraphs are the beginning of a short article that appeared in the Poolville Post newspaper. If you were part of that group, or even if you were not, Poolville would like to invite you back for the first Gathering of Cars and Coffee Cups on October 12th, beginning around 9:00 AM. The event will be a part of the Methodist Church's long standing Fall Festival Fund Raiser, but there is no entry fee, and coffee is free. We invite you to stay for a delicious BBQ lunch (only $7.50) before heading back to DFW. The owner of the car voted "Event Favorite" will receive a free lunch. See the attachment for all the details. You already know the way!
