I grew up in SW Texas in the 50's and 60's when my dad had two drive-ins. I ran the projectors at the smaller one that were lit with carbon rods that literally lighted the screen by projecting the intense light through mirrors onto the screen. You wouldn't believe what we picked up Saturday and Sunday mornings out of the parking lot. Let me put it this way, we could have started a used lingere shop!
