If you go with the 3" core, the small louvers will not rob much HP at all, same with the 2.5" versions. The 2.5" versions are significantly quieter. If you go OVER the louvers vs. into them, loudness will go up approx. 4 dBA's.

Keep in mind, different types of perforations will produce different sound as well, so will the type of packing used. I've also had numerous customers tell me that 304SS pipes will create a "ring" to the exhaust note. Annoying to some, but not to others. I can't build mine out of stainless - heavy 16 ga. aluminized only.
