but by the info you originally posted, brakes dragging would not lead me to a bad brake hose.
and if it was what you truly do need and the mechanic couldn't match one.
i would say to take the car else where. he's not the right guy for the job.

surely you can identify the type of caliper on the car, so that really narrows the hoses down, then match the end that attaches to the line side or adapt it....

find another shop....
