Default Dash mount mirror questions again.

So in a previous thread we learned the dash mounted mirror on the street 427Cobra's were finished with a black wrinkle paint on the back of the mirror, the mirror glass surround trim and the bracket that holds the mirror to the stem. The upright stem remains chrome.

So what kind of black wrinkle paint to use.

I've tried the VHT Wrinkle paint but it's finish is a mild orange peel at best. And it's very glossy.

I remember using black wrinkle paint on my MG back in the 60's and it was very wrinkley to the touch almost rubbing off in flakes. And was a flat to satin finish.

So has anybody had recent experience with a flat/satin finish black paint that really wrinkles?

Cheers
Greg
