Hi Mike, I have 2 lathes, a 60 year old one from my dad's engineering business when he shut up shop and retired in the 90's and a new one I bought about 5 years ago.
The old one finishes aluminum beautifully like the pic, it's old but super smooth, the new one is crap and I wish I never bought it, so now I just use it for plastics or MS.
I haven't really played with speeds at all yet.
