I would agree with ACademic. Buying any used car like that is a bit of a risk. Immediatly heading out across country like that rarely turns out well.
Same with the comfort/experiance thing. It takes a little bit of time to figure out what's comfortable. You don't want to be 1,000 miles from home, with back pain from an uncomfortable seat. Or hemorrhoids.
