You are a moderator in a public, free American based forum and in my expert opinion (18 professional years building the internet, making it censor-free) your only duty is to make sure this forum stays active and all its business/commerce responsibilities stay working. The internet was built for the purpose of communication. Opinions and disagreements will be resolved in its own course, usually last man standing and every guy here will decide on his own what is real, what its worth, and what is baloney. Not moderators.

Actually not. Forums are private property. We are all guests here. Think of the moderators prerogative as the logical equivalent of the sign you see in almost all restaurants "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone".
