You can look up and search James Dean curse and it seems that everyone adds a bit here and there.
I had Bill Hickman back in the early 80's try to authenticate one of the Bullitt cars(also Loren Janes). We spoke about the James Dean crash. Dean died in Bills hands shortly after the crash. Some reports state he died an hour later or on route to the hospital. Dean did get a speeding ticket and in fact they met Lance Reventlow and Bruce Kessler on the way. I think Lance had gotten a speeding ticket as did Dean. Mr. Hickman did tell Dean that the silver Porshe and and the sun makes it blend into the scenery and difficult to see.
Some people look at all the warnings that he had that day. Now I know there was some guy that broke is legs when the display of the wreck fell on him. I heard one tale of two of the tires that came from the wreck blew out at the same time. Now I understand McHenry died while racing with Deans engine and Escrhid seriously hurt in his accident.
Wreck was sent around on a publicity tour on the result of high speed driving and some other accidents happened. A truck driver was in an accident and thrown from the truck that was carrying the wreck and it fell on top of him and killed him. There is more to the tale if you want to look it up.
Barris states he had a bad feeling about the car. Jeffries who painted the little bastard on the car didn't get that feeling at all when we talked.
Now Dean was seeing Vampira a self-proclaimed witch and who knows what went on there. Maybe she put some hoodoo voodoo on the car. Some of these guys are out there getting involved with things that they should not. I don't know I heard some strange things decades ago at Jimmy's Loch Ness home.(Boneskin?) if you know anything about Aleister Crowley well it use to belong to him. Jimmy use to be into that stuff and had an occult book store at one time. And don't think black magic either guys. Occult means hidden knowledge. JP was very advanced using symbols with Zeppelin, a sort of talismanic magic. He lived the life of magic and music.
By the way Hickman did three famous movies as stuntman, Bullitt, 7-ups and French connection.
James Dean and Shakespeare selling his 30 Bugatti's for peanuts are two of my favorites automobile stories.
