You probably didn't mean to post that to this thread, but you should repost, because it's a far more interesting topic than 99% of the other topics floating around recently, IMO.

Anyway, I remember who built that motor, and, well, I'm not going to say anything, so forget it.

I still think your idea was great and the final product was fabulous. IIRC, your sleeve design would've infringed on a Darton patent, and would've been cost prohibitive to use Darton sleeves? Maybe I'm all wet here but I think that was it.

I'd still buy one of those blocks in a microsecond. Try to get it decked and back together. That project has fascinated me from the moment you started it. I've always wondered about decking an aluminum block with cast sleeves...must be a bit tricky. I do know however that the alloy blocks all have their sleeves proud by a fingernail or so. (my scientific estimate). Good luck
