For the most part when I had my Cobra I found that even a plastic chain around it and about 6 feet from the car never kept some idiots from crawling under the chain and touching the pipes. Around here any sigh about them being hot is like a wet paint sign. They have to touch them to see if they really are hot. Two instances. I followed a guy from the local car club into the parking lot of a drive in we used to meet at and he got out with his cut off jeans on and walked right over to the Cobra and rubbed his leg against the side pipe. He had a huge bloody burn and was screaming that he just wanted to see if they were real. I told him that if he had held his hand about 8 inches from them he could have felt the heat. Other instance, one of our highway patrol officers that wanted to look at the car put his hand on the pipe to brace himself so he could lok at the bottom, and this about 20 seconds after I told him the side pipes were hot and be careful not to touch them. He had most of the skin in the palm of his hand burned off and to this day you can still see faint marks of his handpring on that pipe it you look just right.
