Thanks Dan, seems likely. That, or they just couldn't be bothered to stick the stuff at the bottom where water couldn't travel uphill (in theory - we all know it can).
Reminds me of my '68 fastback Mustang GT restoration. I was told it was obviously not original as the stick-on reflective 'C' stripes lined up perfectly.
