Boon, and Harpers476, as a couple of others have mentioned here, you may want to take a look at what Unique Motorcars has to offer with their ‘deluxe pallet kit’, especially considering the title of the initial post…”Easy replica kit”… and Harpers’ comment of…“Not much fabrication skills but I can handle the basics” .
In comparison with a Hurricane (and FFR), at first blush it may look like they are not in the same ballpark when it comes to price, but it is worth noting that many of the upgrades at Hurricane are standard items at Unique. The big ticket item is again the independent rear suspension. It is a standard item at Unique, which uses a Jag unit. Some of the other upgrades on a Hurricane that are standard on a Unique are the Wilwood brakes, frame coating, chrome roll bar, wiper assembly, aluminum fuel tank, and leather seats. And considering the desire for plug and play when it comes to electrical, from the Unique website…“The dashboard is already upholstered, instruments installed, and the wiring is complete with a plug-in for the wiring harness.”
Note also that the Unique comes essentially as a rolling chassis, which is comparable to the Stage II assembly option at Hurricane. This will get you on the road sooner, and is in line with one of Curt Scott’s 10 Golden Rules for selecting a Cobra in his “Complete Guide to Cobra Replicas” which is……“Purchase your Cobra in as complete a package as you can afford.”
No doubt Hurricane makes a good car, but just wanted you to be aware of the differences, and that you are making an apples to apples comparison when comparing prices.
