This one wasn't cheap by any means. The crank alone was $1500, rods were almost that much, pistons with rings were about that much. Coated bearings were $170 a set for the mains and about that much again for the rods. Valve springs alone were up over $400, rockers were $1200. Just adds up REAL fast.

David was lucky in that he already had the heads (just needed them ported), already had the intake, already had the carbs (about $1200 there again), balancer, water pump, carb linkages, etc, etc.

I'd say to duplicate this engine part for part, you'd be approaching the $25k mark. It's very labor intensive, and as you've seen, the parts an't cheap. That's a rough ballpark guess at this point, as I'm doing math in my head, and I shouldn't be doing that at my age. If you're really interested in knowing, I can throw a quote together.
