Default Replacing the bypass tube on an aluminum PI intake

Hi guys,

My bypass tube rotted away, so I am ready to install a new one. However, the new one is way to long and has a slight shoulder on one end. I was told that these are cut to fit, but I don't know which end to cut. If I cut one end, I cut off the shoulder and if I cut off the other, I cut off the lip for the hose. I am tempted to cut off the end with the lip and keep the end with the shoulder since I do not want to put any more pressure on the aluminum than I need to. Comments?
