I did a Michigan Registration. If you don't have a manufacturer's certificate of origin, they will have you buy an insurance bond, so be ready for that. Additionally, I would be selective about which secretary of state staff I use as some didn't seem comfortable about an assembled car. I ended up with a wonderful spanish speaking woman who seemed to be empathetic to my cause, and I sought her out on my second and third trips to the SS office. The other junior male bureaucrats of questionable sexuality were excited to find roadblocks wherever possible. Probably would help if you had a police officer who was interested in hot rods. Likely not hard to find in Michigan. The best part was the final inspection and placing the tag. Took about 30 seconds. Good luck!
