No sir....

That amount of spring pressure, combined with a light action spring, light retainer, etc., etc. should be beyond adequate for a 6000-6200 rpm engine. The valves are 11/32" stem, and although they are 2.250/1.760, they are not portly. I also don't use overly aggressive hydraulic roller lobes. These lobes are actually "Thumpr" lobes, but put together in a custom cam to get away from their Thumpr trademark characteristics. As a whole, the lobes are very quiet and are not overly aggressive.

SB, the reason for beehives was:

1. Darrell requested them.

2. He also requested that the peak hp rpm be above 6000 by a little bit. Typically we have issues with "normal" FE hydraulic roller scenarios and making power above 6000. With a combination of lighter valvetrain parts (lighter valves, very small & light retainers, etc.), and some lifter tricks, I think we can edge a little above 6000. The heads and the cam will be more than adequate for that rpm, but we just have to try and skirt around some FE hydraulics issues.

You don't really notice it in the car, but on the dyno, we normally start to hear the lifters lose control around the 6000 rpm mark.
