If a Coyote will float your boat and you will not want more, then it is very cost effective. It is a good solid engine. However it is not the easiest engine to modify to make more power. Variable cam timing, over head cams are difficult engines to work on. Pulling the heads off and porting them would be quite a challenge. I doubt there are aftermarket performance heads available yet or cams for that matter. I could be wrong. But my point is this would not be an easy engine to make more power normally aspirated.

The easiest way to make more power would be to force air into it - blower, compressor, turbo. I would expect that has been done already. Typically 30-50% more power is within reach relatively easy.

Many people decide they want more power after a few seasons of getting used to the car, and learning how to handle such a beast. Now if forced induction is something you might consider, then the Coyote is still a good choice. If not, then you better be certain you will not want more power later.

Now if you think there is any possibility you might want more power later, when you are putting in the fuel pump and fuel lines (the entire fuel delivery system), size it big enough to handle the most power you will ever want. Then you will not have to upgrade and spend that money twice.
