I agree......285 is not a wide tyre. Something a lot wider may “ Look the Part” on a cobra.
With my current driving ( Cruising ) style, it should not be a problem.
The Nitto tyre in question, is a relatively hard compound and would normally be found on much heavier cars. Say 1350 - 1800 kg.
With a Cobra weighing in at just over 1000 kg.......More weight per sq mm, on a moderate tyre contact patch …....will mean the tyre can function closer to the factory engineered design.
It's only a generic road tyre after all.
We can probably all recall cars with big “Fat Feet “that performed more like small surfboards !! Please excuse my dated terminology.

On the track with little weight, wide tyres and very soft compounds things become a lot different.
Corner weight / Contact patch / Tyre compound........Just a theory !! muzzza
