Hi All,

I've been building for about 19 months now, but to be fair, I had to take 5 months off to recover from shoulder surgery. It was slow at the beginning, but has been much faster since November and I should be finished my bits very soon. Trimming and electrics will probably take 12 weeks in total.

With the fly by wire, Guy is on the money. Mine needed to bolt to the side wall of the footbox, which I did while I had the body off. I also shortened and trimmed the original pedal, which was all plastic, reinforced it with fibreglass and bolted two metal supports on to it, because I wanted the connecting arm from the bellcrank to be fixed to metal rather than just plastic, which i felt would have worn with time.

The position of the bell crank in the manual didn't work for me. For some reason it positioned the bell crank too close to the top, meaning it couldn't pivot correctly. I played with the position until I found a spot that worked, so it is similar to the one in the manual but not the same.

I won't know how well it is set up until I can fire up the engine, but the pedal range and the connecting arms are all adjustable, so I should be able to "tune" it. As far as I can tell, it is a linear sweep, but I'll find out for sure when I start her up,

I will let you know how I go.

Cheers,

Richard
