Thank You, Thank You, thank you, Rick and Kelli for all the hard work you did to make this event one of the best road trips I've ever been on.
The weather could not have been better, the back roads you picked were terrific, as were the the restaurants and resort in Rio Rico. and the points of interests including the Franklin Auto in Tucson, Xavier Mission, Tubac visit and the caverns.
My very favorite stop was the Phitzenmeier Garage with it's grand collection of open wheel racecars. Both were gracious hosts, with Jan serving up refreshments and snacks and Larry showing his prized processions of historic and famous racecars. It was my highlight of the trip.
While we were all standing outside listening to Larry, we were buzzed by a very low altitude fly-over which somewhat startled us, and we later learned it was our very own fly-boy jockey, Tucson John. We met up with John hours later at the Vail Dairy Queen, were he told us with usual grin, who the culprit was.
The new guy who bought John's car, Al with wife Patty, made instant friends with all the members when he took it on himself to buy all the ice-cream for us who, relieving John of having to shell out the pocket full of two-dollar bills. So, instead of calling him "the kid," we titled him "King Al."
John could not have picked a better person to sell his car to and to have him as a new member. And I like wife Patty, because she laughs at my dumb antics.
And to those who cold not make it, because you were scared or had other excuses, you missed one fine weekend.
I didn't plan on writing a book and will stop here so someone else can chime in with their comments.
