I'll second on don't believe the self tuning hype. You'll either have to jump in feet first and learn some stuff or pay someone to iron out the kinks. I have a Megasquirt 2 ($280 solder it yourself ECU) and hardware from multiple sources, and I love it. But I've been dreaming about and learning about DIY EFI for 10 years. And it is a complicated thing to understand and master.
