Yes, this always makes me smile. I wander around the Goodwood Revival paddock and these things are all concours - I mean,
really immaculate. Perfect door shut lines, flawless paint researched to the nth degree.
I remember wandering around the Brands Hatch and Silverstone paddocks in the late sixties, when they weren't even bothered if you sat in the cars, and these things were rough. I mean,
rough! Several shades of the same colour on one car, often whole wings (sorry, fenders) brush-painted following a cheap repair. Given how broke most of the privateers were (and, indeed, most of the teams), paint and smooth bodywork came a very long way down the list of priorities.
Oh, I wish someone would do a proper racing car replica, just like they really were!
