Engine selection is a big question right now. I guess I'm one of those guys that if it says 427 on the side emblem, it should have a 427 in it. It looks like there are several variations of the 427 to choose. I've been reading a lot of negative stories about the Roush 427r, but also how all 427's have maintenance issues when used very little. They run hot, they leak
oil and so on. I guess that is expected. Maybe I should stay away from a 427. In my situation, I would probably only take it for a drive on week ends if it is nice out. When you say FE vs 427W, I believe you are referring to the 351 Windsor block punched out to 427? I guess I want something that has a good track record as far as reliability. I was hoping to get some sound advise on this website.
Also the Backdraft rolling chassis as well, is there a big difference between kits as far as quality/components? I do know that Backdraft chassis's have the one piece frame(boxed). Sales person told me that the Backdraft kit is 4" longer than other kits. Putting the additional length into the interior making it easier more comfortable for taller drivers. Also BDR has the BMW IRS. I guess I don't understand why other kits are far more expensive.
