Thanks for the compliments guys.
The stays are Marty Govetts work - neat, simple and effective.
The latch is jap sourced - Honda I think. Had Marty make the spacers to make the whole thing work and simply riv-nutted into the fibreglass firewall.
I drilled out the production rivet connectors and replaced with stainless bolts so that I could have all the parts painted and it is working well. Am using an old Lancia pull handle as the latch trigger.
Can say the braid was my idea trying to maintain a clean look.
Mike you have now got me thinking about the accelerator cable. But only after the car is going now - lol!
Anyway I will continue to tinker at nights for the moment.
