The LA story as it was told to me by Amy Boylan, then president of SAI. A group of wealthy people from Mexico City all wanted Cobras at the same time. At the time the lead time was quite long, but HST agreed to build the 6 cars "in house" without affecting normal Shelby production schedules (I assume they added people). As a result of the cars being built in Mexico HST also installed power trains and sold them as completed vehicles.
When I bought mine it had been imported into the US and had a CA title as a 65 Shelby Cobra.
