In the world of fine art assets sculptures are often made in multiples and a sculpture
made during an artists lifetime is far more valuable than one made after his death.
A lifetime cast of "The Thinker" by Rodin would be much more desirable than one cast
after his death because he would have supervised the casting and patination on the
former while the latter castings would never have seen his hand and would never have
been signed or approved by him. I won't get into what Shelby was willing to sign...!
