Seems to happen a lot. My Roush engine came with a 9 quart pan. They advertised it as a 7 quart pan. The dipstick Read full at 7 quarts. Didn't believe it so I took the pan off and measured the capacity. Sure enough, it was a 9 quart pan. So, I marked the dipstick for 8 and then 9 quarts.
Seven quarts is still fine, but I don't let it get lower than that.
