Thanks Dougie, that pic reminds me of a version of that aerial I had seen being fitted somewhere.
I did buy a short flexible style from Jaycar but whether it needed to be properly grounded I'm not sure.
But I certainly didn't get much more than static over the radio in my first short test.
Do aerials need grounding per se?
