If the carb on your car has a choke, it is not truly a full on high performance carb. Everything else being equal, there is power to be had from a carburetor with smooth throttle bores and no choke. Not saying this is the sole answer to all of your performance issues, but if you are really trying to squeeze the max potential out of your motor, this should not be overlooked.
