The original 1960s 289 Cobras had wire wheels and the knock offs covered
the hub openings. The race cars had mag wheels with open hubs and small
red rubber balls were jammed into the front hub openings to protect the wheel
bearings from contamination. The rear hubs were left open. All original 60s
Cobras and modern replicas from all manufactures should have some sort of
plugs in the front hubs while anything in the rears is just bling, and unsprung
weight bling at that!
