It is one of 2 genuine shelby pieces on the car I also have a remote oil filter mount. It sounds like you have something similar.
I polished mine, mounted in the car you really can not see it.

That is very similar to what I have but mine is not nearly as 'refined' as yours.

And that's pretty much what I'd do when making a new set, make it more symmetrical. Mine was also polished at some point along the line.
