I wanted Z rated (186 mph) low profile Michelins, and the 17" was the minimum that would give me the proper look, and not affect gearing, vs the standard 15" and standard radial heights...
In other words, they come out about the same height/ & speed wise, but I get low profile high speed tires that perform well
