I would hold off on changing intake manifolds right now. You are probably going to have to re-adjust your carb to the new cam. I would try that first before you start adding more work to your plate. Also, changing out the intake manifold will be a major PITA with the engine in it's current orientation (i.e., canted backwards). The intake manifold needs to be installed with the engine horizontal to ensure proper fit and to maintain the gaskets in the correct place. I believe his current manifold is off anyway in order to get the cam out. Since he was working on pan rail reinforcements last week, I suspect he just has a bare short block sitting in the car at the moment. And once the new cam is in he can set the engine back down. Good comment about having the engine as level as possible to keep the manifold or gaskets from sliding.
