The 991 is a great car, but VW/Audi/Porsche combo lost its direction/way in terms of the 911. Today's Porsche has '14 GT3 engine fires, recalls for emissions defeating software, getting rid of manual transmissions (but now bring it back in the next gen GT3), etc.
Nah, I'll just continue to enjoy my REAL air-cooled Porsche.

dont know if you have a real comparison, your statement is exactly that what everbody thinks that should be stated about porsches,
i am using my porsches for daily and frequent riding, about 20 -25 t miles a year,
so i have to change quite often, in sum i rode about half a million miles on 911
i never had a porsche with automatic transmission, you can get even the newer with manual trans, (exception is the 991 gt3)
it is true that the quality of the aircooled ones was better (is sold my 964 with over 200t miles) but they are gone and the newer are faster and better in driving dynamics, (german autobahn is daily competition
) the 996 and 997 quality was a nightmare but porsche gives a guarantee up to ten years, so it was no problem,
the 911 g-models were a nightmare in driving on fast and curved autobahn-sections, you cannot know this, but in germany there is no speed limit and especially the bmws and audis had the much better suspensions in former times and were faster on these curved autobahn-sections, (i am talking about 150 mph sections), with the 964 4wd porsche began to solve these problem, getting better with 996 / 997 and the 991 has the best suspension i ever rode in a street car, (no more bmws and audis passing me
), i have to admit that the 991 engine feels a bit softer than the 997 engine which was the most brutal engine (3,8s) in all my 911
and finally: i don't care that much about emission defeating software....
