That's what I thought, too - that the pad will eventually wear square to the rotor. But I'm concerned with the bluing as well. You have a PSI force normally distributed over the entire surface now reduced to half the area thereby creating more heat. And how long might it take to 'sand' that pad down?
In the meantime I don't have optimum braking - which was pitiful anyhow. I did read about the Superformance/Willwood caliper upgrades done that resulted in going from a 34mm to a 41mm caliper. I've contacted Superformance and am awaiting to find out if it's still available.
