Modena so true. But you can cheat to some degree.

What Ive done with all my gauges is stick a red line, red/yellow line and RED DOT for the super important ones (aka oil pressure) on all my gauges to tell me that if the needle is on the wrong side of this line I have an issue. I don't have to worry about reading temps, I just check that the gauge needles are all in the right spot. Less hassle and can glance, check and confirm pretty quick.

Not a great pic but it sorta shows what I do. Ive got a fair bit going on with switches and gauges so the less I have to concentrate on incar the better for me.
