The BOSS 302 was only made in 1969 and 1970 in Ford's effort to beat the Z-28
Camero in the Trans-am Series. The blocks were a special iron alloy block
with 4 bolt mains and screw-in freeze plugs. The heads were what later
became the 351 Cleveland head. It was a 7000-9000 RPM race engine with
large ports and valves which suffered in the midrange where the fuel velocity
dropped off. I have a vintage 1970 Boss in my ERA and it fits easily. The only
concession was a custom header set up for the heads.
