The troubleshooting matrix page 41 of the manual has
Problem: "Transmission locked one gear, cannot be shifted out of that gear"
Possile source: Internal parts worn, Bent shifter forks at pads (your pads were jamming and required removal to get the cover off?), Selector arm finger broken (item A45 on page 5 in the parts manual)
