I had a similar experience...was making a right hand turn into a corner I had drifted successfully many times and must have given it a bit too much "encouragement" with the right foot, because all of a sudden I was sliding backwards in the grass alongside the road and headed for a deep washout that paralleled the road. I never thought I'd be happy to impact anything, but I was a bit relieved when a road sign "jumped" in the path of my backwards-sliding car and stopped me before the tail end of the car ended up in the washout with the front end of the car pointing skywards.

In the end it cost me $100 for a new rear bumper, but it could have gone MUCH worse if it weren't for "good (???) luck".

We keep telling the noobs how easy it is to get sideways in these things...funny (???) how things have a way of popping up to remind us to pay attention, too.

Cheers!
