Mike, have you called the service station to find out if others complained of engine failure since your incident?
It is not too far fetched that something went into your tank other than gasoline.
Here in Illinois at a BP station a couple of years ago, a fuel tanker driver put a load of diesel into a station's gas tank.
It just seems suspicious that after about 30 seconds your engine bogs down, just about the time it takes for your fuel pump to supply the carb with something other than gasoline.
Don't laugh, stranger things have happened!
