OK, I gotcha. You know, even if you have the starter in
wrong, misaligned with the flywheel, and generally a RodKnock half-ass type of installation, it's still going to make a good bit of noise when you turn the key if you have 12v+ going to it, 12v- going to it, and it's not broken. I think I might pull it out, bench test it, and then do a careful reinstall.
