Ok, about the car:
Unique Motorcars, 289 USRRC-style (no truck bumps, no bungee cord) <-- This was how I knew that this was the car for me- I Always loved/wanted a wide-fendered 289 style car, but was never a fan of the trunk bumps.
2400 miles.
4 very old, very hard tires (I've already called the tire store and have that situation in the works.)
Built 289 (Edelbrock PerformerRPM Heads, cam, and intake)
Toploader 4 speed
Jag independent rear with 3.42's (which means I'll still be able to cruise 70-75, maybe not 80...
)
QA adjustable coil-overs up front
** T5's are cheap - I might be doing some tranny-swapping, as soon as the checkbook stops stinging from the agony of 10 tanks of diesel being purchased over the past 4 days.
Wilwood brakes at all four corners
"Wineglass" style replica wheels from PS Vintagewheels (yes, 5-lug. I still prefer lug nuts to knock-offs)
and, Just for Karlos:
- no fuel injection
- no cup holders
- no A/C
- no power brakes
- no power steering
- no radio
... Nothing left to tease me about now, Karl; except my bald head (and it takes one, to know one...
)
I only have one reservation about the car so far- The exhaust is too tame (read: quiet)....However, that's nothing an afternoon with a cutoff wheel, a welder, and some black barbeque paint can't fix....
I'll post more pics after I get some rest from this whirlwind trip...
