Thanks for the reply Tom, but unfortunately, neither of thise really give a good answer. The secong one uses a crush sleeve. Mine uses a solid spacer with shims. From his description though, it sound like they need about .005" of preload.

The first article uses roller bearings. No shims needed for those.
