That's all part of the FUN! Making a vintage part awesome again....satisfying. That being said, not all used parts are created equal. Some certainly deserve to be thrown in the scrap heap. Buy carefully - if your mechanic gave you this advise after seeing it, he's probably right. However, if he made a blanket statement about all used parts like this - find a new mechanic. New parts/tooling these days are far from "bolt on ready".
