Second the recommendation for Joe Dietrich if you decide to go to the mid-mount shift point. He is a Premiere Tremec dealer (and local to me).

The switch to a short throw shifter is pretty easy if you have the access. The short throw is due to the length of the shift lever above the fulcrum on the shifter compared to the length below. The mid-mount shift point is a completely different topic.

Most who go to an aftermarket shifter are happy with the change - short throw or not. The aftermarket ones just shift better and feel less sloppy.

Again, I love my MGW. It's not the most popular but I never miss a shift, even at 6000 rpm.
