If any other 289 Sports fans are reading, after the original post I did some hunting and found that AC Cars Ltd apparently used both 1965 made and 1966 made HP289 engines in the small number of cars completed. The three engine assembly dates I recorded to date are 5A22, 6D12, and 6D13.
There were model year variations between engine assemblies, i.e. the parts making assemblies up. That so, I would not expect the exact Ford engine components used on all 289 Sports that were completed.
