Since you're working on a Ford, you don't need all the hammers.

Seriously, I wouldn't be using a hammer and wood to install a harmonic balancer. Go to Autozone and rent a "balancer install tool".

Since the balancer spacer rides in the timing cover seal, put oil around the spacer before you slide it in.

Make sure and torque the balancer bolt. The torque spec will depend on if it's a factory bolt or an ARP.

Some balancers are hone to fit. Most will go on without issue, but depending on the brand, it could be a fight. Put some oil or never-seize on the inside of the balancer before you hang it on the crank.
